Rimisp planned to influence two specific areas: restructuring of domestic agrifood markets for small farmers and rural territorial development. Rimisp and its members are now recognized as leaders in these areas. The networking character of Rimisp was effective in bringing to the World Development Report (WDR2008) discussion a number of influential papers even beyond their areas of expertise. Rimisp contacted scholars from Asia and Africa, assuring an increased role for southern academics. The papers commissioned by Rimisp for the WDR2008 are included in this report in a separate volume. Twenty-six other documents are listed in the Annex to this report
